Controlling a packing area requires constant vigilance over the station's routine. The VFFS or vertical packaging machines must be regularly cleaned to ensure their optimal performance and the integrity of the packaged goods. Please read on to learn more!
Cleaning a vertical packaging machine
A VFFS packing machine needs experienced personnel to do the cleaning and maintenance. Also, certain parts and areas of the machine can get damaged during the cleaning process.
The packing machine's owner must determine the cleaning procedures, supplies, and cleaning schedule based on the nature of the processed product and the surrounding environment.
Please note that these instructions are meant solely as suggestions. For further information on cleaning your packing machine, please refer to the manual that came with it.
Here is what you need to do:
· The power is recommended to be cut off and disconnected before any cleaning is done. All power to the equipment must be cut off and locked out before any preventative maintenance can begin.
· Wait the temperature of sealing position lower down.
· The machine's exterior should be cleaned using an air nozzle set at a low pressure to eliminate dust or debris.
· Take off the form tube so it may be cleaned. This part of the VFFS machine is best cleaned when it has been withdrawn from the device rather than while it is still attached to the machinery.
· Find out if the sealant jaws are dirty. If so, remove the dust and residual film from the jaws by the enclosed brush.
· Clean the safety door in warm soapy water by cloth and then dry thoroughly.
· Clean dust on all film rollers.
· Using a damp rag, clean all rods used in the air cylinders, connecting rods, and guide bars.
· Put in the film roll and reinstall the forming tube.
· Use the threading diagram to rethread the film roll through the VFFS.
· Mineral oil should be used to clean all slides and guides.
Exterior cleaning
Machines with powder paint should be washed with a neutral detergent instead of "heavy cleaning" products.
Also, avoid getting paint too close to oxygenated solvents like acetone and thinner. Sanitary waters and alkaline or acidic solutions, especially when diluted, should be avoided, as should abrasive cleaning products.
Cleaning the pneumatic system and electrical panels with water jets or chemicals is not allowed. Pneumatic cylinders, in addition to the equipment's electrical system and mechanical devices, could be damaged if this precaution is ignored.
