A single multihead weigher portions the finished mixture according to the required net weight. For example, if the target is 100 grams, the machine finds a hopper combination close to 100 grams and discharges it into the package.

This method can control the total weight accurately. However, it cannot correct how much almond, cashew, raisin or chocolate is in each bag after those ingredients have already been mixed.

Ingredient Segregation

Trail mix ingredients rarely behave in exactly the same way. Peanuts may roll quickly, raisins can be sticky, seeds pass through small gaps, and banana chips may break during repeated drops.

Which Package Format Should You Use?

The weighing method does not determine the final package. Both pre-mixed and individually weighed trail mix can be filled into rollstock bags, premade pouches or rigid containers.
